Building A Bed With Reclaimed Wood

I am using salvaged hard wood reclaimed from the demolition of a conservatory to build a super king sized mid century modern style bed frame. The wood is a mixture of meranti and mahogany and there are lots of nails, screws and holes in the wood that I need to deal with!

TIMELINE

Making My Dream Desk

In this video I build two drawer units as a base for my desk in a mid century modern feel using some salvaged timber that had a woodworm problem, some nice sapele boards and some birch plywood for my DIY dream desk build.

Restoring A Mid Century Modern Bureau

In this restoration video I work on a mid century modern bureau made by Jentique.  I need to remove water stains, scratches and the old finish before refinishing, remove a handle that someone had added and fill with a new veneer patch repair with some wood grain painting to help it blend in, and then apply new finish and find a replacement key for the fold down door.

My Nightmare Project! Mid Century Modern Corner Cabinet

In this video I make officially my worst ever project!  A mid century modern style corner cabinet to hold some hifi equipment for our dining room.  I believe the wood is Iroko, which is also known as "poor man's Teak"!  The handles and hinges are solid brass. The legs are a mystery hardwood (probably meranti).

Restoring A Mid Century Modern Credenza / Sideboard

In this video I do some restoration work to a vintage teak mid century modern sideboard / credenza.  I believe it's by either Nathan or Beautility.  This piece of furniture has been in my family for decades.  I needed to refinish the veneer and solid wood areas.  The original ring handles in my opinion made it look quite dated, so I made some new hardwood handles for it which are interchangeable with the old ones to give it an updated look to better fit in a modern/contemporary home setting.

Making A Desk For My Fiancé #AD

In this video I'm working on a DIY custom desk project for my fiancé Ria, which will act as both a "work" desk and a dressing table all in one. Since recently becoming a permanent homeworker, Ria needed a nice desk to work from. She had quite a specific idea about what she wanted, and how it would look - and wanted to incorporate some solid wood to make it less "officey" and give it more of a homely "furniture" feel, so I used some solid beech for the frame and drawer fronts, and made the rest from Medite SMARTPLY's moisture resistant MDF. There were a few challenges along the way!

Making A Rocking Chair (Mid Century Modern) #KPWBCC2020

In this video I make a mid century modern style rocking chair; which could also be an armchair by removing the rockers (or rollers!) for the Karl Pope Woodcraft Build A Chair Challenge 2020.  The chair is made from hardwood salvaged from doors and windows taken from our home renovation works.
