Refinishing An Ercol Giraffe Room Divider

In this video I'm going to be restoring the finish on a 1956 Ercol Giraffe room divider for a client.
I've never worked on a piece of furniture this old or this valuable before.
And the first mission was collecting it in my small van, I had to get it in by laying it down on it's side, and because it's talled than my van is long, I needed to the door of my van shut with some rope and needless to say I drove home very carefully.
First I had a look around the piece partly to see what work I'd need to do, and partly pure admiration at what a beautifully wel

Coffee Table With Metal Legs

Recently I salvaged some metal coffee table legs - these were being thrown away as part of an office clearance at my place of work, and originally they had melamine tops which were really badly worn and damaged after years of use, and I knew I could make use of the metal legs, so I asked for the metal legs to be put aside for me.  I think I took about 6 or 7 pairs of these in total.
And in this video I'm going to make a solid wood table top for one of the pairs of legs and I'm also going to grind off the paint from the metal legs which you'll see later in the pr

Repairing & Restoring Dining Chairs

Recently I made a couple of desks as a commission for a client, and when I was delivering those to his home, he mentioned he had some solid beech dining chairs that were in need of repair.  There were 6 in total but initially I just took 4 of them away, and in this video I'm going to be showing how I repaired and re-finished them.
The main problem with these chairs, as you can see is that joints are loose, so the chairs had quite a bit of movement in them.
When I lifted the seat pad out, I found there was another problem - the corner brackets which sho

Making Custom Desks (part 3 of 3) - Worktop, finishing, castors & keyboard shelf

Welcome to part 3 of the desk builds.  In the last video I made the drawer and drawer housing for the desk.
And in this one I'll be working on the desk top, the castors, adding a keyboard shelf and getting some glass for the desktop to protect the wood.
First I used my trim router to add a roundover to the top edges of the worktop
I then brought the worktop in to the workshop so that I could sand everything smooth and remove any burn marks left by the router.
I used my block plane just to ease over the bottom edges of the worktop
Then

Peter Millard Clamping Square video: https://youtu.be/kf-jOFrWTXo
In this video I'm going to start working on a commission - this one came about thanks to my uncle who put my name forward to someone who wanted two custom desks built, one for each of his sons.
I got in touch and we discussed his requirements so I could start designing the desks - he wanted the desks
to have some shelves and a single drawer for storage
something dismantleable so that it can be easily transported
mounted on wheels so it can be moved around easily
